About 6 Miles Up from the Trailhead
We started with the fearsome foursome. At the Trail Canyon saddle, we dropped to the thrifty threesome. Our route took us from the Trail Canyon TH to Devil's Thumb; a large rock landmark at a corner of the Charleston Peak Trail Loop. This is where a ridge of rock comes down from Charleston Peak like a "thumb." Then, at the end of the ridge, there is a large broken off boulder monolith that is sometimes referred to as the thumbnail. It was a long hike filled with gorgeous scenery on an absolutely perfect weather day. Ralyn had not been above the Mummy Tree so it was really fun showing her around! On the way down, Mike decided to go ahead and hike up Lee Peak while he was there. Ralyn and I continued down as the terrible twosome! As it turned out, Mike came back into the trailhead about 15-20 minutes after we did. Wonderful day! Worth the effort!

Stats: 13.3 miles; ~3550' gain; 7.25 hours
