Snowshoeing on the Bristlecone Trail with Jerry & Cheryl - 2/1/23

Jerry and Cheryl in front of Mummy Mountain

About 4’ of snow on the sides

So deep the tops of the rails of the metal fence are almost covered!

No Name is to Jerry’s left. Someone had skied up.

Hi, guys! We snowshoed on the Bristlecone trail a few days ago. We were going to start on lower Bristlecone and do the loop CCW but the driveway/road to the parking lot wasn’t plowed and the Xterra couldn’t get through. So we parked at the upper. It was surprisingly really crowded with skiers. We were lucky to get a place to park. I guess people called off sick to go skiing.

We started up the trail. People had been on the trail until where it meets with No Name.  Then we had to make our own trail. We took turns cutting a path. Tough going especially on the steep sections. The snow was deep and kinda sticky. It clung to our snowshoes and made them feel heavy. But it was absolutely beautiful! A real bluebird day.

We followed Jerry’s track to the Highpoint, had a snack and then went around, and down past the bat exhibit and to the McWilliams campground. We took off our snowshoes there and walked up the road to the Lee parking lot.
