Little Egypt (south of Hanksville, Utah) - 4/26/22

About 20 miles south of Hanksville, Utah is a geologic site named Little Egypt. The rock formations are very similar to those in Goblin Valley State Park except they are red and white in color. Also, the formations are in tighter groupings and not as fragile. There is a sign about 100' from SR 95 after you turn to the west of the highway. The road turns to the left and comes to a parking area on the right side. A couple of trails drop down the embankment to the floor below where there are many rock formations as seen in the photos of this blog.

The group wandered around looking for photo angles and to see what they could see. Sunrise would be good lighting for this site. Some hikers went up a wash behind the rocks to see a larger hoodoo.

Stats: 1 mile; 100' gain; 0.5 hour
