Large Fossil in Cave Canyon |
There were more than just fossils in the North Blue Diamond Hills today! Seven hikers came upon a light colored mojave rattlesnake at the top of the last dry fall (left fork) of Cave Canyon. One hiker placed his hand very near it as he was climbing up the right side ascent and almost jumped off the wall! He ended up hanging from the side of the rock until we figured out that the 3 foot poisonous snake had most likely just finished a meal and was laying motionless while digesting. We all got a good look at the serpent and hope we never see one again! (Thanks, Alicia, for sending the pics.)
